Homes for Sale or Rent in the Philadelphia Area

There is a significant annual migration to and from Philadelphia, which coincides with graduate students who are finishing their dental/medical degrees.  To help distribute information for families who are moving to/from Philadelphia, I will list some information on homes here and will try to post some pictures.  I’ll update the information as it becomes available.

1.  Brady Home

Upper Darby, PA 19082.  3 bedrooms, 1 bath, and $1150 a month.  More info soon.

2.  Stamps Home

32 Springton Road, Upper Darby, PA 19082.

1132 square foot single family home has 3 bedrooms, 1 full bathroom, 1 powder room, living room, dining room, kitchen, semi-finished basement, 1 car garage, with a small garden in the front and a small play yard in the back.

Owners will lease for $1100/month, 1 year lease, first/last months rent & security deposit required.   Will consider pets.   A multiyear tenant will receive $50/month of their overall rent returned to them at the end of the lease to help them with their next move if the home is well treated such that the security deposit does not need to be used for repairs.  Will also consider a sale with owner financing, lease purchase, etc., but prefer to rent.

Welcome to the City of Brotherly Love – Charity

Having lived in or around Philadelphia for the last ten years, I want to write about living here and the exciting events happening in Philadelpia, specifically for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, but for anyone and everyone interested in the City of Brotherly love.

Charity is the pure love of Christ and there is plenty of love to be found, experienced, shared and grown in Philadelphia.

So, without further adieu, for those considering moving to Philadelphia, already en route, or living here, here are a few great reasons to love life here, or at least not fear it.

1.  Philadelphia will soon have a Temple.  http://www.ldschurchtemples.com/philadelphia/

2.  Interested in Urban Development?  Well, parts of Philadelphia may soon resemble Salt Lake City, as the LDS Church is building a mixed use 32 story high-rise and a large meetinghouse next to the Temple.  http://www.ldschurchtemples.com/philadelphia/images/philadelphia-rendering1.jpg

3.  Philadelphia has a ton of diversity, whether measured in food, ethnicities, languages, or socio-economic classes.  Missing hearing whatever language you learned while a missionary?  Well, you’ll find folks here from wherever you served.

4.  Perhaps you have never lived without having at least half of your neighbors also being part of your ward?  Well, never fear.  Philadephia has wards, although most of them are political units and not LDS wards.  However, Philadelphia does have a “Little Provo,” where 7-8 families live within an area the size of a city block.  Little Provo is called Upper Darby, a “Township,” which is the largest city in Delaware County, right outside of Philadelphia, which is where I live with my family.

Want to know more?  Just drop me a line.  I’ll be happy to tell you about raising a family in Philadelphia, going to school in Philadelphia, and anything else you want to know.  If you aren’t going to law school, I can introduce you to some of the many many dental and medical students who are living here also.
